Just a reminder that the N72 cycle path from Engine Lonning through to St. Thomas Lane has been fenced off by the lovely landowners...there is a notice (on the fence) explaining that the lease of use/passage has run out.
Carlisle City Council have stated that they are committed to maintaining and opening up more traffic-free cycling/green routes, so this closure seems both sad and shortsighted, especially given that it offered a traffic free route out/into the heart of the city from the Western approach I hope that there is an answer to this situation - I'm sure if folks are willing to talk to each other then a solution can be found without resorting to galvanized fencing?
If the city can open up every available traffic free route Carlisle could easily become the cycling capital of the North. #nuffsaid
